Sir Fredrick Goldsmid Frontispiece portrait and illustrated throughout with images from the collection of Dr. Willis, and others, and sketches by Morier Lawrence & Bullen Ltd,  1897 First Edition with this introductions and these illustrations and annotations     Lower hinge weak, spine slightly sunned and a small mark to upper cover, end-papers spotted and a little spotting elsewhere but a very good copy  Morier (1780?-1849), after retiring from the foreign office in 1817 devoted his life to literature, at first to travel accounts and then to oriental romances. This, a late edition of Morier’s first and most successful romance which was first published in 1824 to much acclaim, is a comprehensively annotated edition, illustrated in depth. It also includes the “Introductory Epistle” which was suppressed from earlier editions.
