Presentation Copy, inscribed by the artist to Gordon and Emily Bottomley and dated Christmas 1931, and with the Emily and Gordon Bottomley Bequest bookplate  A very nice Association Copy: Bottomley was Nash’s mentor and close friend and Nash designed stage sets for the former’s plays. In one of his final letters to him Bottomley wrote that he considered the two of them as the last of the Pre-Raphaelites.
