The Flower of France [a novel]

McCarthy (Justin Huntly).    Hurst and Blackett,  1906 First Edition     Cloth a trifle worn at spine, otherwise a nice copy. The DEDICATION COPY: with a short printed dedication to the author’s sister (Charlotte?). On the half-tile page the author has added a presentation inscription in Italian: “Alla raghissima damizella e carissima faniculla nel mondo del mano e con amore di suo devotissimo. iv.iv.mcmvi”  Like his father, Justin McCarthy (d. 1912), Justin Huntly McCarthy (1861-1936), dramatist, novelist and historian, became an M.P. and had a penchant for inscribing dedication copies of his books to members of his family in tongues other than English.
